My Classroom!!

Every year, I post pictures of my classroom the night before school starts. Mostly because that is the cleanest it will ever be again! I love that feeling right before the kids come and you've got everything all sparkling new and ready for them. That's what I'm feeling tonight! Ready or not, they're coming in the morning!!

Since I am looping this year, my room looks a little more "done" than it usually does. I was able to hang some of their stuff before they even set foot in the room this year, which was nice!

So, anyway, here's a peek at my third grade classroom...

Here's my door. Easy-breezy! I used a Welcome sign from the Target dollar bins and I used some stars that my kiddos made last year. Done and done!!

This is the view from the door...

And the view of the other direction from the door.

This is where I put my calendar and where we also hang our Shout-Outs. I usually have them put them in a mailbox, but I want them to be out in the open this year. We'll see how it goes...

The little banner you see here is something I made. I just cut out those shapes with fabric and then hot-glued them to some green ribbon. I love how they turned out!!

Here's a view of the front board. Not quite sure what to hang above it!!

Over at this end of the carpet is a bookshelf and my desk behind that.

This is the area over by the door.

The quotes hanging along the back wall were made by my kids last year for a project we did. They are quotes from famous Americans and I LOVE them! When they made them last year, I knew I had to find a way to get them up this year, too.

This is my small group area. Behind it, I have all our guided reading strategies ready to go!

I always put pillows in my windows because the kids love to sit up there while they're reading and working!

The chair pouches are so special to me! The teacher I student taught with and then taught with for several years have them to me. She just had them sitting in her garage and I am so thankful! They're in amazing condition and even lined ;)

As you can see, I got rid of desks this year. I'm using trapezoid tables instead. For two reasons, really. One is that my kids do group work and projects all the time and I like that they'll be able to spread out and do that work on these. The other reason is that it makes the room much, much roomier!!

Here's the back counter in the room. I loathe purple cabinets, but what can ya' do??

Love, love my Welcome sign!

And here is the other wall. This is where the library, word wall, and writing center are!

I added some new pillows to the library, but that's it!

The writing center...

This is just a little flexible seating area. They can sit here to work if they choose. It's two IKEA Lack tables pushed together on an IKEA rug. Nothing special!!

Since we don't have desks this year, this is where they'll keep all their "stuff."

And here are my bookshelves. Symmetry makes my heart go pitter-patter, y'all.

So, that's it!! I hope you enjoyed the little tour. I'm so excited about this school year and I can't wait for tomorrow. I'll be back to blog more soon!
